A scanner ALWAYS "sees through" a cloak or Illusion Generator as long as you are actually scanning from an adjacent sector. Check out the FAQs in the FAQs section for more about how a scanner works. I think I covered most of this...

Any ideas for new FAQs?

If you have any ideas I'm open to suggestions. Do you think anything on there needs revising or additions? If you are a new player with questions, please post in this section, even if you think it is a stupid question. I want to help make SMR as newbie-friendly as possible.

To see and trade in illegal goods, your alignment must be below -99. There are a few ways to do this, but the fastest and least dangerous is to go to the underground HQ and become a gang member. This will lower your alignment to -150, but is only available to players who have alignment between -99 a...

No, the formula XP (per sector) = (INT(Holds/30)+1)*2 is only slightly off and the only widely-used ship that is affected is the WQ Blockade Runner. And that has higher base exp than it should so it really isn't a bad thing... I was just nit-picking over small details... Just use the formula and you...

It's really fun saying that, isn't it Trib? :)

If I was in NG4 I'd probably still be out there in my trusty Star Ranger...

Close Blum. The function INT always rounds down. Rounding normally works this way: 8.8 becomes 9, 8.5 becomes 9, 8.4 becomes 8. But INT works like this: 9.1 becomes 9, 8.9 becomes 8, 8.5 becomes 8. Does that make any sense? Although, I think someone may have used the wrong one while coding, because ...

Weren't the first 400 newbie turns in SM completely free from any type of turn draining from mines? Of course that would just bring up a new set of problems here...

I think you can edit game.ini and manually change the galaxy sizes, but I would guess that will "corrupt" the data if you already have some entered. I assume it will but I never really tried it. You should probably backup game.ini and sectors.smc if you try. Rohan or Trib could probably te...

All good stuff. Good guys also get access to the HHG which does 300 shield damage at 35% accuracy. Gang members get the Nuke, which does 300 armor damage at 35% accuracy. Most people prefer to go evil at the start of a game if they find out where the UG is, because it gives you an extra 3 trade good...
