heh, i got it back. seems maybe i forgot to disconnect the power to the drive. after doing so, and spending a lenghty time finding the specs, i rebooted, and BIOS auto-detected it. Im back in business, and only time spent on the problem was lost. At least i learned something new, and have the specs ...
