Ok, after lots of discussion, yelling, arguing and drinking, we've decided to restart the game as the following.

Racial gals will be bigger and have more trade possibilities
Shop placement will be mostly the same, although sectors will be random
No SMS
The WQPT will be removed an TSD acc will be increased (if I can get spock to do it)
Game speed will still be at 1x however the game will become a 4mo long game, and we discussed running a 3 week long retro KoTH game somewhere in that spam at 2x.
As for those that bought maps, any alliance leader needs only message myself or PV and you will be given full maps to share with your alliance.
We dont have a time frame yet, however we expect it will be shortly after we track down spock.
As a final note, if things keep going as planned, this could be one of the last games before SMR2 is ready for play.
