War and Peace

The wars between the seven races in this universe has caused major economic trouble. Because many races have gained peace with so few other races, trade in the Preiw, Yblyd, Zaun and Anconus has come to somewhat of a standstill. It seems that the individual traders only venture out into the neutral galaxies to kill members of an opposing race or to buy new weapons. Federation officals have noted that the economy can only move forward if the fueds between all races comes to an end quickly. The WQ Human and Thevian Ruling Counsels have ended talks, and are well on the road to peace already. Many other races have done similarly. Hopefully when all the races attain peace, the focus will shift to trade, and not senseless and mindless killing.

Newbie Help #2: Protection

There are very few ways in this game to remain protected while not online. I will tell them in order from safest to least safe. The first way is having Newbie Turns. You recieve newb turns at the beginning or a game to get yourself set up. You also recieve newbie turns each time you die so that you can get another ship. The second way to be protected is to park at a Federal Beacon. Fed space allows you to be protected only if you meet certain alignment and weapons rating requirements. When your align is -149 to 149 (yellow), your fed weapons rating is 3. This is considered neutral alignment. Next is for when you have evil alignment. When your align is -299 to -150 (red), your fed weapons rating is 2. When your align is below -300 (dark red), your fed weapons rating is 1. Lastly is good alignment. Good alignment is much simpler. For every 150 alignment you have over 0, your fed weapons rating increases by 1 (150=4, 300=5, 450=6, ect). The next two types of protection are not nearly as safe as the above two. The first of these is planets. Planets are mainly for ships that do not want to sell their weapons and can not park in fed because of high alignment. This means war birds and hunters. Planets are difficult to use because they require alot of work. You must be constantly building on them and supplying them. Planets are also, not very safe in early stages of construction becuase lone hunters can easily bust (capture) them. The last type of protection is VERY unsafe and it is not recommended you use it. It is parking in a dead end. A dead end is a sector with only one enterance. To do this you need at least 3 ships with all 3 ships having a full stack of 50 mines, 50 combat drones, and 5 scout drones (this means 150 mines, 150 combat, 15 scout total) placed in the sector and probably outside it as well. Hopefully all this has helped you to understand being protected. If you want more info check out the FAQs section on the WebBoard.

Galaxies Overrun by Hunters

A recent rise in the number of hunting ships throughout many of the racial galaxies has caused widespread fear among traders."People are just buying these ships 'cause everyone else has got one of 'em hunters. Its bin real good fer my bizness because fer every huntin' ship i sell, I get 3 more people tryin' to trade in their ships for new ones," said a salesman at the WQ Human Ship Dealer. This seems to be creating a vicious cycle that is making the number of hunters grow exponentially. Hopefully within the next few weeks they will just all kill each other off and go back to trading.
