"intergalactic terrorist organization calling themselves Armada" strikes back at merchants

With what appears to be a move carried out in retaliation against SmashnGrab's destruction of Omega-21, an armada of Armada warships struck out against a number of ports in the Panumbra Galaxy. Omega-21, a human port in sector 3877, was ravaged by the SmashnGrab invaders this past weekend during a failed assault on the Anconus galaxy. While the lack of official Galactic Post news feeds into secluded Anconus have prevented more than whispers of rumors from making it into more populated space, experts in alliance tactics believe that the massive damage done to Omega-21 created a large negative impact on the income of Armada’s traders. Thus, when Armada struck back at the Panumbra ports Thursday morning, paying no heed to size or race, many were quick to jump to conclusions. “It appears that the members of Armada are attempting to make up for the loss of a valuable trade route by increasing the value of their remaining routes” stated one analyst, speaking on condition of anonymity. That was not the only stab made at the organization’s motive, however. “I believe that the attacks made today were carried out as a show of force, first and foremost,” stated another. “Armada was looking to show the rest of the universe, especially their assailants, that they are capable of the same kind of destruction.” But if that were the case, why attack so close to home? Regardless of motive, the damage done to many of the larger ports throughout Panumbra serves to enforce an opinion that, though still the minority in the galaxy, is growing in popularity. Are the members of Armada in fact part of an intergalactic terrorist organization, seeking only to wreak havoc and cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible? Or are its members, as they claim, a rogue military organization with aspirations to rule over everyone from Alskant to Shattenreich? At these Crossroads of so many inhabitants of our galaxy, it appears only time will tell in this, as well as many other facets of life.

Credit to be dissolved??

There has been talk amongst the races in recent meetings of dissolving the long standing form of credits as the universally accepted currency; placing responsibility on each race to print and distribute their own cash. Proponents of the measure argue that it would provide yet another means for "stronger" races to display their dominance over others, while activists condemn having eight units of currency instead of one. Shreef'tut Hargusson, the Alskant co-founder of the measure, pointed out that "allowing each race to produce its own currency permits racial governing bodies to oversee more directly the economic status of their galaxy, as well as ports abroad." Hargusson goes on to claim that "with fluctuating exchange rates between the values of each currency, a new form of currency exchange will arise...which many will profit from as they pursue a new occupation." Arguments against the bill have been spearheaded by Forn Nwet, a Creonti merchant. "Why the (hell) would I want to carry around 3, 4, 8 different types of money instead of one? If I'm trading a route and have ports representing two or even three different races at the ends of it, I want to be able to spend the money I just made at one port buying more goods at the other. Wouldn't any other hard working trader?... You know those damn banks are just out to screw us over. Interest these days is a fraction of what it used to be. Add in exchange rates, and they'll be taking more money out of our accounts than we put in!" Though many individuals have gone on the record as either being for or against the controversial measure, all of the ruling councils seem to be riding the fence so as not to upset their constituencies. We at the Galactic Post have been asked by many Presidents to encourage that readers contact their governing body and speak out before the 8 races will vote yea or nay in early August. You can get in touch with your government by clicking the trader button, then the politics tab, and the “Send Message” button at the top of your interface screen.
