Ancient Relic Found

In one of the most shocking discoveries of recent times, Adopt-a-Warp volunteers patrolling a stretch of Intergalaxy 35 uncovered what is widely believed to be a Human artifact amidst piles of space junk and a mysterious black obelisk. The relic, dubbed “NASA” by its distinctive markings, appears to be a primitive communications device. Judging by its “Voyager” nameplate (a popular Human name of the distant past) and incessant Bach ring tone, anthropologists believe the volunteers have discovered the earliest known cellular phone. News of this left the organization’s leader, a Human businessman named Trump Fabulous, stunned speechless. Needless to say, he was unavailable for comment. Researchers speculate the large size of the device and mysterious lack of “tricked out” drumming in the ring tone will lead to stunning insights about Humanity’s mysterious past. -Nilremsoc, The

Possible Curse A Factor

An old trend has once again unveiled itself in the Milliways galaxies: while advanced cloning processes have changed the old axiom, ‘Only the strongest THRIVE’ holds true today. While alliances that are at the bottom of the top ten, Alpha Factor in particular, are holding their spots in the kills and XP, their deaths continue to skyrocket. Yet those holding the top 3-4 alliances kill more and die less. Is Alpha Factor cursed? Psychic Madam Cleo was consulted on the subject, yet it is believed drugs affected her prognosis, and the Federal Treasury is still reeling from the billing charge. The past three games AF have finished in the top 5 deaths every game. They did manage to pull of a 2nd place XP last game, but what causes this staggering amount of deaths? It could be said that if they didn't die as much, they might actually have a substantial chance at being in the top three. Time will tell, but for now AF manages to hold on, a long time tradition in SMR, but never the winners they could be.... yet...

Ursa Major Becomes a War Zone

Hostilities in Ursa Major escalated earlier today, with 4 alliances now fighting to control this harrowed galaxy. Witnesses say a fleet of 12 ships bearing DoW colors flew thru Bombs Over Baghdad and began clearing mines approaching the space around the Rebellion's planets. The Rebellion planetary defenses, rated as 23 by the Federal Planetary Defense Commission, were no match for the attacking fleet, and 6 Rebellion ships were destroyed as the planets fell. The attackers then went looking for new targets, and picked off a lone trader near a Crusader's planet.

However, Dogs of War were not the only alliance with designs on Ursa Major this night, as just as DoW was about to pop the corks and celebrate their victory, the raiders narrowly escaped an incoming Death Control fleet. Dogs of War did not keep their newly acquired planets for long, as the ten Death Control attackers quickly took control of the disputed real estate before moving on to target the remaining Ursa planets. Crusaders minefields proved ineffectual against the invaders, and they quickly found themselves short 3 planets and 5 ships. The Death Control warships also disposed of an Elves trader who had foolishly approached the combat zone.

The Death Control operations were rumored to have been led by a veteran Salvene fleet commander, rumors which were supported by the ruthless efficiency with which Death Control took control of all the Ursa Major planets. It is unknown at this time whether Death Control intend to add Ursa Major to their already extensive territory, or whether they were simply stepping up planet raids as part of their bid for domination of the Milliways universe. The distressed inhabitants of this war-torn galaxy are left to pick up the pieces of their lives and wonder where the next attacks will come from.

Dogs Of War Harry Thevian Commerce

After repeated losses in their overt wars for the Ursa Major territories, Dogs of War have been sighted sinking to new lows recently. Striking at the legal, open commerce of the universe in pursuit of ill-gotten gain, these mongrels have sunk to assaulting innocent trade ports for funding. Earlier this evening, a fleet of over 10 Dogs of War struck out against the major Thevian trading hub located in sector 1182, reducing its defenses to rubble and raiding its stores and cash box. However, rumors state that a fortunate, irregular deposit by the Thevian Trading Commission earlier this morning pulled much of the funding out of the location, and the disappointed DoW fleet left with only approximately 15 million in spoils. Nonetheless, as they have begun, it is prudent to suspect further such raids from this alliance, and Federal Authorities are currently urging all port owners to enhance their defense forces.

Note From the Editor
First off, I would like to thank the efforts and contributions of all those that have submitted material to the Post. While not everything makes the final print, and some solid material does regretfully hit the editing room floor, everything is reviewed. However, there are some things I would like to point out so as to help every submission be more likely to hit print.

While role-playing material is important, it is regretfully not part of the arena of journalism we wish to participate in. However, for those of you with a pension for this type of work, the Web board does include a Role-Play forum. In addition, this paper will not publish any articles written with an obvious bias. You can praise successes or bemoan failures, yet these events must be factual. No 'I love me's or 'They suck arse' articles will ever find a home anywhere but the trashcan.

Lastly, just because your article was edited, perhaps extensively before hitting the press does not mean you should stop writing. Ask how you might improve your work, or why it was changed. We here at the Post will be happy to explain. If it hadn't been a good idea, it would never have hit the press in any form. -GP Editor #1
