Milliways - GP Archive: End Game Calamities V.2

The Day of a Trader

The clock was ticking...it's again 9:00 and everyone is awakening, ports are going to open, the bar is fulfilled with joy and laughter .
The day is just begun, little trader.
Who trades the empty void to another space to pull the ports for their daily stroke of goods. Is the day just begun or is it an endless stroke of getting money? No, he just want some trades to be done to get his Honour of his alliance.

One day, he thinks, I'm going to be one of the hunters! I'm sick of trading all the games but do I have the skills...the courage? No, he thinks, and sits back at his computer making his last deal and slept till the other day.......

Gone are the Days

Gone are the days when you receive a message from your global transmitter for a single duel, and when you enter the sector you see one ship.
Gone are the days of honorable fighting where players truthfully tell their opponent their ratings.
Gone are the days when duelers respect each other's duel and don't get involved unless asked.
Gone are the days of sunshine where truthfulness and integrity were praised.
Gone are the days where a trader could trade peacefully.
Gone are the days when a fighter can fight another without interference.
Time has slipped into an abyss where the huge alliances care only about stats.
Honor is long gone and the integrity is a puzzle piece that is missing.
Only Blood, War, and Bragging has remained

Can-Do Mercenaries

Need a minefield cleared? Need an extra ship for that port raid or planet bust? A clan has sprung up which can fit the bill.
The Mercenary alliance is small, but they are offering their services for a fee. Some of the tasks in which they specialize include: scouting, infiltration, and assisting you in combat. Contact one of the Mercenary members by way of the alliance roster in order to request a job.

Escape Pod Industry Booms

Escape pod stock owners are watching the news carefully and smiling. The Galactic Stock Exchange has seen a huge advance in the stock prices of companies which manufacture escape pods. The small metallic escape pods are required by Federation law to be installed in all space-faring vehicles, and according to galactic market analysts, the rise in stock prices is directly related to the number of replacement pods ordered and installed by ship dealers.
"Our orders on new pods have increased 35% in the last month," said one local Nijarin ship dealer. "With all the warfare going on in Ursa Major and Baffled Old Barracuda and Centarus, we've got our hands full just keeping up with demand." And given the current situation among the contentious clans operating across the universe, that demand is not likely to decrease any time soon.

The increase in escape pod demand has also caused a new side industry to spring up: pod recycling. Racial HQs typically dispose of the escape pods that land in their docking bays. But environmental activists have petitioned the racial governments to change their policy, and now, the less damaged escape pods are re-installed and re-used on other ships. Pods that cannot be salvaged are melted down, and the metal of the pod hull is turned into armor plating and sold at UNO shops. The effect of all this recycling on the profit margin of new escape pod manufacturing is expected to be minimal.

Crusaders Reject DC Olive Branch Over Ursa Major

In a move that some are calling foolhardy, the Crusaders have rejected a proposed peace treaty with Death Control. Leaders inside the Death Control alliance approached the Crusaders recently in a bid to end the fighting over the Ursa Major galaxy, after taking control of two of the galaxy's five planets. As has been reported previously in the GP, the two alliances have been fighting over control of the galaxy for months, causing major disruptions in the lives of Ursa Major inhabitants.
Details of the proposal are sketchy, but an inside source told the GP that the deal DC made involved a planetary NAP in Ursa Major between the two alliances in exchange for an admission of defeat by Crusaders.

Death Control has held true to its name in the Milliways universe: dominating four galaxies, numerous planets, trade routes, cash flow, and even lottery winnings. This planetary NAP would cement their standing as the premiere alliance in the game. "We're trying to end a battle amicably to both sides, while still claiming a victory to what we rightfully see as our victory," said Sterling of Death Control.

Crusaders leader Harry Krishna formally rejected the offer, saying "I have considered [DC's] offer of a pNAP in exchange for some concession of defeat, and I choose to decline. Concession of any kind when [DC holds] only 2 of 5 planets would be premature." Crusaders later attacked the DC controlled planet at 3150 in what ended up to be an unsuccessful attempt to retake the planet.

Following Krishna's response, Death Control leader Sterling and OP leader Ardbeg have pledged to continue their offensive advance into the galaxy. Meanwhile, Crusaders have been seen mobilizing their forces in Ursa Major to mount a defense against the overbearing invaders. Residents of Ursa Major are again preparing for the worst as these two alliances face off over their homeworlds.
