Who Shall Prevail?

As this new universe unfolds its mysteries to the races, we here at the Post speculate which of the newly forming organizations will pull ahead in the upcoming struggle for power. The Shadow stretches forth its hand over the dark, seeking to cover all with its power, while the Tootsie Pops are set for mass distribution in ports and on every planet. The Forsaken, mighty in the old galaxies, have once again risen up to bring pain and suffering to the masses. Yet a new organization, the Angels of the Light, born of the old Fallen Angels, seeks to dispel the Shadow and slay The Forsaken, bringing goodness and justice to the skies. Goals, however, are intangible things, until met. Who shall rule?

Starting all over, for the first time?

The Universe.. Upon your first entrance into it, with your newly acquired and scantily-clad Newbie Merchant Vessel, it can be quite an overwhelming thing. You have so much to do and only so many protected turns to do it in. Therefore, the big question. Where to begin? Right out of the gate you don't have much choice, you have to know what it looks out there before you can do anything else. A good idea is to at least map out the protected sectors and a few surrounding sectors before even thinking about trading. If you happen to stumble upon that golden trade route, though, stick with it, as you got lucky, and can explore later. The most important upgrade early on for your ship is holds. Don't worry about purchasing anything else for your vessel before you get those holds maxed out. The best trick for this is to sell your laser and buying the holds with the cash; you won't be shooting at anyone under newbie. After you have done some trading, gotten some experience, and are running a little low on those Newbie Turns, it is once again time for exploring. Make sure you know how many turns it will take you to get back to a safe sector before you go though, never leave yourself off-line in open space. Hopefully you will be able to find the bank, and any warp points, these are key locations so make sure to jot them, or any locations you find, down. The other things you will be looking for are Ship-Dealers, Weapon-Sellers, and the Technology shops. That should get you going on the right foot, at least for a little while... Good Luck

Going All to Peaces

Arthur Gage here, Political Correspondent for the Galactic Post. Our first story concerns peace processes currently conducted throughout the universe. Many of the races' leaders are choosing peace as the trend to follow for this new era, and many treaties are being discussed, debated, and voted on as we speak. However, not all nations are choosing peace, and rumors hold that few in power among the races are considering war. Efforts for peace have been thwarted by rogue presidents in both the WQ Human and Creonti councils. However, such a warlike view-point is a minority, as the leaders of the races prepare for a prosperous and peaceful future. A Creonti ruling council member, despite the actions of his president, is quoted as saying, "For too long now, the races have fought and battled each other, and so far, they've not gotten anywhere. I believe these peace treaties can secure the galaxies futures as successful." If you have any ideas or comments on who your race's relations are made with, contact your local ruling council.

Tips From the Editor

For all of you aspiring journalists out there, here are a few tips on how to gain my good graces to get on the staff, and, more importantly, how to write so your work appears in print. Firstly, you have 255 characters to make your application in. You must be brief, yet get your point across. If you sound like an idiot, you'll be ignored and summarily rejected. Do what you can to show your level of education, writing like an 8th grader won't cut it. Now, if your brief statement seems articulate enough for me, you'll get assigned to the staff and the capability to submit articles... yet that does not mean you will be published. This is where you must truly meet and exceed my expectations. A few hints. 1)This is not an opinion. It is a paper. If the word 'I' appears ANYWHERE in the article that is not a direct quote, it'll be trashed. Write in the 3rd person. 2)Sound intelligent. Small, itty-bitty words may work fine in your remedial English class, but not here. 3)Spell check the bloody thing. 4)Aim to at least fill a healthy paragraph, minimum. A three line article won't make the cut. These are just a few pointers and guidelines to get you started. Hopefully, you will know enough on your own not to need more.
