Senseless port raiding deaths CAN be avoided!

This reporter has been scanning the news service wires and has become disturbed by the wholesale slaughter that Federation ports are wreaking upon would be pirates. Raiding ports is simply a good way to get yourself killed if you don’t understand how their defenses work, so the staff has compiled the following for your reading pleasure….Port Raids:A successful raid will net 1/4 to 100% (this fact is currently under debate) of the total traded funds, both buy and sell. Historical databases record a raid that netted 172 million credits..Port defenses = (1000 Shields, 1000 Armor and 200 Combat Drones) + 1000 Shield/Armor and 100 Combat Drones per Level.e.g.Level 9 port(1000a/1000s + 9000a/9000s) + (200 SD’s + 900 SD’s) = 10,000a/10,000s and 1100 CD’s .15 Weapons per port regardless of level.Port weapon damage = 250/250.Port Weapon Accuracy = 10 x level of the port adjusted by –1/2 trader level?e.g.Level 9 port100% Accuracy. As you can see raiding ports higher than level one or two by yourself is sheer folly unless you need that free ride and 100 newbie turns.

Thief Strikes!

Yesterday, a reported 30, 000, 000 credits was smuggled away from a Fedation bank. The criminal, commonly known as Punisher the Unsavory, escaped on what looked to be a modified Newbie Merchant Vessel. The Federation has yet to track this "thief," but has issued an alert warning. One teller reported, "He came in, looked around for a bit with this goofy looking smirk on his face, then just grab all the cash on the counter and ran off laughing manically." We here at the Post will continue to follow this story as it evolves, and we hope all of you will watch your back... and credit chips. We don't know when this weak willed individual will strike again.

Thevian Presidential Race

Over the past few days, the battle to control the powers of the Thevian President has been fierce indeed, and a subject for much galactic discussion. In the recent past, this position has been brutally controlled by the unscrupulous Dread Pirate Roberts, who, despite the best efforts of his council, has maintained war will all of the other races by virtue of his position. Claims by certain key players in the Thevian government, later followed by a public statement by the Pirate himself, that peace could only be bought with him. Yet today the tyrant DPR was reduced a mere council member in a quick, bloodless coup as a new President took office. DPR, known for his ruthless politcs, is expected to respond and attempt to reclaim the Presidency and end the peace negotiations now in place. But will this be the end? Mummurs of all out civil war have spread across the Thevian galaxy as long as DPR holds sway. Assassination attempts have already occurred, but none yet have been successful. Will the Thevians ever be free to trade with other races? Or will they be forever trapped in their war stricken galaxy?

Galactic Power Shortage Causes Severe Drop in Intergalactic Markets

Recently, a massive power outtage struck across the known galaxies, as the main generators at Galactic Edison stations shut down throughout the universe. One high level port official claimed, "Loses totaled over 720 million credits worth of Luxury Items and other high value goods today due to our incapability to record transfers." The reason for the mass power outage was discovered when Galactic Edison technicians entered the main generators and found the power wheels unoccupied. The small Creonti who normally occupied the wheels were found engaged in a strange game where metal 'coins' called quarters were bounced into a small receptacle of alcoholic beverages. The losers of this apparent tournament, and even the winners, were quite inebriated by its completion, and recovery efforts on the generators were not completed until the Creonti recovered themselves. All ports are now fully operational and are expected to remain so. Federation authorities have decreed the use of tax credits to support Galactic Edison in increasing their Creonti manning.
