I am in favor of flat exp loss perentages. I made a thread about it somewhere, players should not loose so much to mines or anything. Its to hard work, and it takes fun away from smr, and ocasionally makes people quit, especially new people.

10% is the # it should be reguardless.

But levels are what counts toward accuracy not the xp, you cant punish lower level players that much for situations in which player cannot return to trading to regain their xp.

So sick of people trying to change the game so much. I lost 3 levels.. somewhere near 60,000 experience, but am I complaining? No, I made the mistake of sitting in the open and it cost me. Mistakes should cost you dearly, not cost you a little.

And following the cleared path is one of basic opping rules. I had newbies figuring it out on their first OP. And not only that, I had newbies clearing into armour like they're badass vets, following the cleared path and not getting podded in the process. So stop whining.

And I didn't even die to mines.

I agree that dying to a port/planet should have less consequence, but dying to mines should DEFINITELY have the worst consequence because it is the most avoidable type of death.

Mistakes should definitely cost you. A couple rounds ago I was like a 375k DC, a couple guys found a cloaker parked and they told me the path they cleared to him. I followed the path to decloak, of course I wanted the kill so I tried to pod him first, but instead he matched me shot for shot and took me to like /3 or /2. I Knew the path I had to take to safety, but when I got to the warp I was so frantic that instead of warping I mis-clicked into a mined sector. Bam, dead, lost over 100k experience (and I was a green DC). I could have avoided it, should have, but I made a mistake and it cost me as it should have.

The issue becomes what if its not a mistake, This has really a high Griefing Ability.

I was speaking with lotus about it in regards to last night, ING could have easily killed our entire raid party by force deaths by easily re-mining our path to uno.

Mines right now are incredibly annoying, Potentially deadly, and cause the highest exp loss in the game. mines remove the fun parts from the game, which is large groups of people fighting each other. You know what the best part of last night was For everyone involved? A massive shoot out at the uno, If you disagree with that then you and i will never agree on anything.

You know what was the least fun part of last night? 3 hours of clearing mines for 10 minutes worth of shooting a worthless planet.

i meant in the fact that the planet was of no use to us. we choose that planet sector as the target without knowing what the planet builds were because we were not able to get that far into the galaxy in a long time. thus a blind choice turned out to be the wrong one.
