[4:10pm] • Requeim still thinks top racials need a exp qualifier
[4:10pm] Incognito: Page has made efforts to balance the price with the cost of outfitting the ships
[4:11pm] Incognito: What would you propose as an exp qualifier?

[4:12pm] the570z: you cant realistically have all your oppers have over 100k so they can die more then twice

[4:15pm] the570z: I said on the wb but ill say it in here, I think most of the changes are good, just the neutral ships in the early hunter class are overpowered

[4:15pm] Page_: increasing the price of the raiders means that it's possible to do more stuff with price
[4:15pm] SMR-adam: so how will the more expensive ship and less player per alliance pan out

[4:15pm] Page_: as it was, the difference between 2mil for an as basic as you can get hunter, vs 12mil for a raider gives no room for price differences

[4:15pm] the570z: so in reality small ships are cheaper and top racials cost the same

[4:30pm] Incognito: With the reduced turn cost from hitting mines, I can see the price on the FW increasing a bit
[4:30pm] SMR-adam: definitely busting in a hunter is risky
[4:30pm] SMR-adam: but i think it would boost activity if people could get away with a carapce bust

[4:31pm] Page_: whereas you want them to be OP ships
[4:32pm] Page_: for the +/-450 align ships

[4:35pm] Astax: well we could move to cooldown based movement. So you can move nonstop but after each move you must wait x seconds to move again, based on ship speed

[4:37pm] Astax: firing also cooldown, you fire must wait x secodns to fire again... maybe different cooldown for eapon level

[4:37pm] Astax: so you can fire all your guns, then fire aagain but only your smaller guns

[4:44pm] Incognito: Upon completing a port raid you no longer get the money instantly and instead get the option to either raze or loot the port.
[4:44pm] Incognito: Razing a port forces a single downgrade and gives you 75% of the port's money.
[4:44pm] Incognito: Looting a port gives you 100% of the port's money.

[4:45pm] SMR-adam: 75% is still potentially alot
[4:45pm] SMR-adam: but anyway
[4:45pm] SMR-adam: the money part could be scary..

[4:46pm] Requeim: Dprnds how easy they are to bust down really. If one trader can upgrade a port. It sbouldnt take 10 wb's to bust it. It would almost be nice if once every few weeks all the ports jumbled up... new routes. Or new ports to bust down to make the routes.

Jester-: lets make another good/evil ship based on high/low alignment (say 450)

I like this idea out of everything that has been said. Would be nice to bring back that dark green color or dark red color that you use to get when you got +- 300 maybe assign that to 450. To achieve +-450 you would have to bring back the alignment change from attacking ports like it use to be. Port raids are displayed in news and people can see the exp gains from shots on cpl so it isn't exactly easy to go out there PR without attracting attention. This could give something for people to work towards.

A high/low alignment ship would not of course be over powered. Just a slight chance to give it SOME advantage over a normal ship. Of course this ship would be more expensive. Could even consider them some sort of "Ancient" ship.

Federal Ultimatum Legacy. Return it to how FU use it be (43m+) tiny bit more defense and possibly even give it some more scouts. These changes are tiny but that little boost will make people want the ship and the game fun for some people.

Death Cruiser Legacy. Just make DC how it use to be. (29m+) 800 shields/ 400 armor, 100 CDs 125 mines 20 scouts.

I always thought a fun idea for mini games would be like mini tournaments. Either 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, etc. You would sign up, 8 man/teams or more. Make the gal like a 5x5 and have them fight once or 2/3. Whoever wins moves on. You would sign up as a certain ship and have a certain amount of money/turns and fight until someone dies. Then they move on. In terms of actually coding it though, dunno if it's actually possible. While Solo battles are already fun, 2v2 or 3v3 tourneys would be really fun IMO due to strategy possibilities. Also if there was a way to get people to watch the battles without interfering, it would be fun to watch as well. Think about how fun a 3v3 would be, with like 200 turns and 5 mill each, one uno and ca. Also the tourneys can be either 1 day or multiple days if people can't be online at the same time.

Certain money/turns can be done reasonably easily, although I would suggest the turns be based upon the speed of the ship they choose, rather than a fixed number for all ships.

As for watching, I guess the easiest way would be if the participants were to stream their view via twitch.tv or something.
As for ways that would require some extra coding then allowing people to fly a immune/invisible ship and giving them full galaxy map vision is one option. The other option would be to allow "spectating" directly on one of the ships (this is kinda possible atm, however it would cause lag with sector locking and the "spectators" would be able to control the ship as well - so it would definitely need to have some work done :P )

I'll see about mocking up a pair of ships for this, although I'm definitely not promising anything. Although another option would be to make the fed/evil ships somewhat cheaper if you are that good/evil?

Yea the point was so that it would be a short fight with limited turns. So not really a free for all. But planned duels that actually could determine whos the best 1v1er, whos the best team, etc.

I meant that for instance you might get ship speed * 50 turns or something, so you would have a limited number, but that number would be based upon your ship.

There's not a huge amount imo, however I'll list the ones that come to mind:
Ship/weapon choice: Try to choose ships/weapons that work well against your opponent (for instance vs a deva you want an armour heavy setup), this is primarily in weapons though.
Mines. If you can place mines and hope the enemy walk into yours, whilst avoiding theirs.
Running. If you get a bad first couple of shots then just run and uno before coming back for another round, i.e. only fight when the dice are loaded in your favour.
Last shot. If you can get the last shot in a close fight then that can be the difference in who gets the kill.
Most shots. This is primarily important in fights with CDs, if you trigger the shot first you get to fire with full CDs and maybe kill some of their CDs before their fire back, so you do more damage and they do less. This is particularly skillful if combined with fast shots whilst still combining it with quick calculations of whether to run.

However at the end of the day, beyond knowing when the dice are in your favour and to either run or fight, then there isn't a huge amount of skill in a 1v1. There's a lot more skill involved in picking people off at OPs though, finding a weak straggler and picking them off and escaping before they get backup.
