Before this new change all ships had an effective trade durration of 550 past repairs
Now, the easiest way to find out how many past repairs you can have and still trade effectively is take your repair/hour and multiply by 80.
ex. The psf 2.4 repair * 133.3 = 320 past repairs.
theif 7.8 repair * 133.3 = 1040 past repairs
