When the game launches, we plan on having a tutorial type game. Basically this will be 1 huge mission that the player must complete before joining the real game. We need some ideas about what to make the players do. So please add your comments. So far, here is the general idea
Player Creates Character
Player must read messages (default message will be sent)
Player must move 5 sectors
Player must buy goods from a port
Player must open the local map
Player must move to a port that buys good x
Player must sell goods
Player must trade until they reach 500 experience
Player must find a port and raid it (they are given a couple NPCs to assist)
Player must visit a hardware shop
Player must visit a weapon shop
etc
etc
Please add anything you think would be appropriate for a tutorial mission.

Re: SMR1.5 Tutorial
Have a low level NPC chase them around while they trade
My ties are severed clean, the less I have the more I gain, off the beaten path I reign, rover, wanderer, nomad, vagabond, call me what you will
Re: SMR1.5 Tutorial
maybe have it come take 1 shot at them every 5-10mins or something.OmegaRenegade wrote:Have a low level NPC chase them around while they trade
Re: SMR1.5 Tutorial
Maybe buy some forces and lay a minefield/stack.
Build some buildings on a planet
Drop goods on planet enough to build Generator

Relax, concentrate, know the world in which you stand.
In motion be like water,
at rest like a mirror,
respond like an echo,
be subtle as though non-existant

Re: SMR1.5 Tutorial
If you've ever played Pardus, they do this very thing. The tutorial is a bit lengthy and can take more than one session to complete because each leasson builds on the previous ones and the interface is at least as complex as SMR. I'd suggest creating an account on that game and see what they do. Not saying that SMR should copy their approach, but there's no need to reinvent the wheel either.Azool wrote:When the game launches, we plan on having a tutorial type game. All of the above things are good elements to include, and any tutorial should be organized into broad areas that familiarize the new players with the game. For example, a section of the tutorial might be "Ship movement" and would lead the player thru both CS travel and Local map, using the plotter, etc. to various destinations.
