Trading

Trading is as it was 15 years ago. Sure we got extra goods now, but the principles are the same. Azool once said that asteroids would make optimal trade routes more dynamic, but that didn't happen either. I would like to see a more advanced trading system with more different goods, and more complex mechanisms. Can we think of any ideas? (I can come up with some myself, but I fear most are inspired by ME, which has a terrific trade system)

Yes sup/space stations, and the ability to create port (not just racial) relations, and ships ability to make "special" goods from mined and brought goods.
