Solo Playing

Post by NotHere »

Hi, I'm new to SMR (I played SM for a while though) and am gonna start the new newbie game on the 5th. Was wondering how solo players fare in SMR. I been reading and all I hear is how every zone is mined, its impossible to trade without escort, and planets get raped etc etc...which doesn't sound much fun if theres only 1 big alliance running everything :-/

And secondly, I tried logging into my SMR account and it said "invalid email"...but when I requested a password, it was sent to my email address perfectly fine, the same address I registred with. This isn't that big of a problem I guess, I can make a new account when I get to school cuase this one doesn't work I guess.

Another question, what is the average player expierence in the newbie games? Should I wait for about level 20 to switch to hunting. I dont look forward to trying to level to 40-50, just 20-30 suits me fine (or it did in the old SM). Or is this a bad decision. I will probably be WQ Human and fly in the Mirage...so level is important becuase of cloaking.

And one last thing :) Anyone have a good build order for planets?

I was thinking 3 generators followed by 1 hanger then 3 generators and 2 more hangers. Giving me 600 sheilds and 60cd's in 24 hours. The next day Id build 4 generators 1 hanger and 1 turret. So two day total would be 1000 sheilds, 80 cd's and 1 turret.
Or, rather then the turret, it would be 6 more generators, giving me 1600 sheilds and 80 cd's...

Most of this is tremendously overexagerrated and is not that big of a deal in most galaxies.

You should probably email the admins about that instead of creating a new account.

Probably level 20-30 should be just fine depending on how long it takes you to get there.

You will have a very hard time building a planet by yourself but usually you do about 2/3 hangers, 1/3 generators, and just fill up all 10 turrets fast. Once hangers are at 100 then you finish off the gens.

Well, I figured out why it said invalid email :) And that isn't a problem anymore.

What is the value of a good trade route? Say with 120 cargo holds, what should I be trying to get credit wise per turn, and exp wise per turn. Is 20,000 credits per turn to much (would be ~10,000,000 at end of newbie turns). I was fooling around in the newbie game just now, and was doing 40,000 one way, and 50,000 the other (with low low demand, like 1000). It took 36 turns total (32 to travel and 4 to buy/sell). Is this bad or should I aim for something like this in the next game.

When calculating trade routes...does the game take into account how some sectors cant goto other sectors? An example is like 537 and 536 in WQ human galaxy. although next to each other, they take 16 moves to get from one to the other. If there were ports in those two zones, and say they are the only ports in the galaxy, would they be 16x ports or 1x ports?

and one more thing :) I promise its the last one for atleast 5 minutes!

How many credits are you aiming for after your 500 newbie turns, and how much exp.

It would be a 16x route.

Ok, so I found another route in the newbiegame, this one gives ~6736.9 credits per turn...is this average, above, or below?

And are there any trade calculators out there? Or are those against the rules?

There are no trade calculators because:

1. Only Spock and Azool know the formula and
2. The formula has a random integer somewhere in it.

As to all your other questions, I am not a trader so I have no idea what is average.

If your not a trader, how do you get your levels? Are there really THAT many people to kill? Dont you atleast trade so that you can afford a ship, or do you have your alliance purchase it...? Did they change how much exp you recieve from kills?

Not everyone who isn't a trader is a hunter.

I am a miner. :) Gotta love the Human Border Cruiser. :)

Last vet game I ended with like 4k and gained around 10k total (died a bunch, but I don't really care about that) from just shooting forces and at people. Never traded once. Plus I came in at the latter half of the game.
