I don't think you actually get the turns for voting, i tried, don't bother.
No adds for turns, Spock wants to keep it add-free.

Yet what are those 2 little things at the bottom of every page i see?

They arent ads. They are voting links, if you use them then another site advertises the game for us.

Spock has stated before that he wants this game to remain banner/add free. The two links at the bottom are actually voting sites which used to give you two free turns. The free turns aspect was disabled because people on dialup were abusing them.
