why cant I buy this weapon
why cant I buy this weapon
it says my power level isnt high enough to buy the weapon I want. why
Every weapon has a power rating from 1 to 5. Every ship can carry a maximum of:
1 level 5 weapon
2 level 4 weapons
3 level 3 weapons
4 level 2 weapons
Unlimited number of level 1 weapons
They cannot be converted, so even if you have no level 5 weapons, you can still only carry 2 level 4 weapons.
Of course you can only carry as many weapons as your ship har HardPoints (HP).

How is offensive power determined.
I am a little confused
A FU has 7 hard points. So the maximum offence value should be:
5+4+4+3+3+3+2 =24
How is it t hey end up over 31?

Power level depends on the average damage a weapon deals. So at level 0, fighting against a level 0 opponent, level 5 weapons deal the most damage. Attack rating, on the other hand is based on maximum damage a weapon deals. So, while Creonti "Big Daddy" and "Little Junior" Torpedo deal more or less the same damage on average, the Big Daddy would give a much higher offensive rating.

I always thought that attack rating was calculated through overal damage capabilities of the weapon. So, every 50 I think it was would give you an extra point. I can't remember how many points the drones would give you, I think it was one with every 25. Is that how its done? Or am I completely wrong and should try and find some1 to slap me?
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. People who understand binary and those who don't.
I think (emphazise "think") attack rating is calculated like this: wep total damage/40 + drones/50. The divisions are both double divisions (not integer) and then converted into integer by adding 0.5 and truncating whatever is after the '.'. Example: IST with HPL and 15 drones. 170/40 + 15/50 = 4.25 + 0.30 = 4.55 => 5 attack rating.
