If you buy upgrades such as armor, cargo holds, shields etc. do you get to keep them when you buy a new ship?

If the new ship has room for them, you can keep them. If your current ship has 250 shields and the new ship you are buying can hold up to 300, then all your shields will transfer. If your current ship has 250 shields and the new ship you are buying can hold up to 200, then you will lose 50 shields.
