Of course he is trading. Someone has to finance the alliance. The real issue is if he's transferring cash to his other account (not saying he is).

no, they are not meant to play at all, they are meant to advise - anything else is too open to abuse.

Newbie leader finances a new ship for newbie X, newbie X trades for a pile of xp and cash then joins alliance Y - which just so happens to be the same alliance that the newbie leader's main account plays for.

Not to mention the fact that admins have better things to do than spend hours examining every action that the newbie leaders perform. Trading and fighting are completely out of the question, as is exploring anything more than the home galaxy.

Does the WQ human leader want to step up and identify/defend himself?

A non-playing leader is crap. If this is the way the newbie leaders are supposed to work I think we might as well get rid of the newbie alliances all together and have the new ppl join Anarchos and other people who can actually help them.

So what if a newbie leaves the newbie alliance and joins the leaders real alliance? That's a step towards getting a new player to play the game.

IMHO newbie leaders should be able to play just like any other account except:
- No attack button. Can defend and attack if one of the other players in the alliance clicks attack.
- No access to anon accounts
- Never leaves newbie status
- Stats are not saved from game to game

how is the leader playing meant to actually help the newbies? The whole point is for them to have someone specific to get advise from, not a regular alliance leader.

Also, the WQ human leader hasn't even bothered to explore his own galaxy to give his newbies maps of their home territory! All he has done is trade!!

Also a newb leader - who never leaves newb protection. Can trade the most profitable route at the expense of normal traders and leave it drained. Not useful for the game to have something you can't control...

RD, newbie status. Not newbie protection.

Ardbeg: He'll be able to help them in ops (PR's mostly probably). He can be a wingman when teaching them to hunt. If he can't play they might as well just have a link to #smr-help in their screen instead.
