Reduce wait time on alliance hop

Brief conversation about this last night.

Basic conclusions were that 24 hours is to long..

Should reduce this to 12 hours. The 12 hours is to be split:

No joining for 6 hours after you leave, no leaving for 6 hours after you join.

Splitting would require extra work, and would also mean not allowing you to kick someone within 6 hours of them joining.. (otherwise it'd be a pointless limitation to have).
In short, dropping to 12 hours is fine, splitting is not.

If reduced from 24 hours we should just remove the limitation completely.

The main point of the limitation (from what I recall) is to keep people from leaving their alliance overnight and sleep somewhere safer cloaked (Having mines around the universe already limits this behavior). The limit has to be at least 20+ hours to prevent this.

Another side effect (or maybe it is intended) is that alliances can not temporarily join forces to counter an op or to execute an op. With the current size of the game, it might be a good idea to just allow this aspect of the game to encourage more activity

I thought the main reason was to stop people jumping between alliances at a moments notice not the cloak thing, either way it was a request a feature thing that was voted up, so I added it to 1.6 - who knows for what reasons people voted it up.

It was put in place to avoid that "op hopping" never noticed it occurring for cloakers.


I'd say lower it to 12 hours. If you know 12 hours before an op your op'ing, chances are you will know 24 hours in advance as well.
